Sometimes, on the road.....

i was driving to work this morning, as usual, listening to the radio, and was puzzled by the high volume of cars at such an early hour..... coming off the kerinchi link, joining into the damansara highway, i had to cut across 2 lanes to get onto the outer lane, which was the lane i needed to get into eventually to get into our carpark.....

Cutting across one lane wasnt a problem....the Battle of the Sexes was just about to start on Mix.FM, the guys were leading 5-1, i was in a considerably good mood, which is unusual so early in the morning.....

Peering into my side mirror, i saw a 2 and 1/2 car gap in between a light blue kelissa and a silver camry..... this is a good opportunity for me to switch lanes, since we were all driving at a relatively slow speed of 50km/hr..... as the kelissa started to pass me, i turn on my right indicator and start inching in..... by this time, i was looking straight ahead in case the kelissa were to brake suddenly..... to my surprise, i heard 3 sharp honks from behind me..... checking my mirrors, the camry wasnt that close to me..... a second later, another 3 sharp honks followed..... and she was so much closer now..... geez, this kiasu woman actually accelerated to try to prevent me from cutting onto her lane!!!

the selfishness of such people never fail to amaze me.... well, they irritate me as well actually, does allowing one person into your path make that much of a difference? especially when you cant go that much faster anyway due to the heavy traffic? you'll probably be held up somewhere further up front and lose those 2 seconds that you gained from not allowing me to cut in front of you anyway.... you also use up more fuel in trying to accelerate suddenly, and then wear out your brakes faster by jamming it to prevent yourself from colliding with the car ahead of you..... so what is it do you gain from preventing me from cutting in front of you?

As a result of such drivers, lets call her WMN 3349 (yes, i noticed it was a WOMAN, and the car plate no. has since been etched into my dodgy memory), no one uses their indicators, because they are not allowed cut in when they need to..... this isnt good, because it leads to potential accidents, due to the simple reason that these drivers dont make their intentions on the road known to other road users....

So WMN 3349, because of drivers like you, the roads are a more dangerous place, filled with stress.... the lack of a "give and take" spirit makes the experience of driving on the roads so much more unpleasant..... i wish there were fewer drivers like you, WMN 3349..... well, i guess i'll just have to do what little i can do..... take a deep breath, and try not to get too agitated..... if i have to be the bigger person among the 2 of us, well then, so be it......
